RECENT PROJECTS

1)  The Chamber produces “The Nelson County Business Directory”.

2)  Until recently the Chamber maintained and helped install the Christmas lights in Lovingston, Shipman, and Nellysford.   In recent years the Nelson County Home Builders Association has taken responsibility for the Nellysford lights.

3)  The Chamber sponsors the Nelson County Christmas Parade.

4)  The Chamber recognizes the accomplishments of our future leaders with assistance, scholarships, and other awards.

5)  The Chamber organizes “Ribbon Cuttings”  to publicize and promote new businesses.

6)  The Chamber sponsors “Candidates Forums” to give the public an opportunity to meet and learn about candidates for elected office.

 

PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS

1)  The Chamber was instrumental in getting the parking area and walkways at Crabtree Falls.

2)  Tha Chamber has played a role in luring new businesses to the county.

3)  The Chamber was responsible for getting the original “Welcome To Nelson County” signs installed on the major routes into the county.

4)  The Chamber was responsible for the book “Torn Land”; commemorating Hurricane Camille.

5)  The Chamber provided the functions of the Economic Development Authority and the Tourism Office until local government established those offices.
